Twelve hand-selected, high performing models were compared side-by-side during rigorous tests by ski guides, ski patrollers, and avalanche instructors while riding lifts at Mammoth Mountain, California and skiing backcountry terrain in the Sierra.
Though the models in this review are insulated and designed for use at resorts, some were found to cross-over into backcountry use well. The designs were evaluated for warmth, weather resistance, ventilation, features, style, and comfort and fit.
