Germany : Horex unveils the VR6 Cafe Racer 33 ltd.

Sporty style with six - cylinder engine

A strikingly purist sport bike layout, exclusive features and a design collaboration with LSL Motorradtechnik, one of the most respected parts developers in Germany – all t his adds up to the new Horex VR6 Caf e Racer 33 ltd. that celebrated its exclusive world premiere on March 6, 2014 at the "Motorräder Dortmund" bike show.

The newest model from the Horex motorcycle manufactory in Augsburg will be built in a limited edition – 33 units – and sold for €33,333.

According to Horex CEO Clemens Neese, "Fritz Kleemann, founder of the original Horex works in Bad Homburg, had an affinity for motorcycle racing. Although we have no plans to get into the racing business, we have a soft s pot for fast, purist bikes in the cafe racer design. So it was only logical for us to develop this type of motorcycle based on our VR6 Classic." In order to move forward with the project, Horex collaborated with LSL Motorradtechnik. Under the guidance of m astermind Jochen Schmitz - Linkweiler, the company was directly involved in the new model concept from the very beginning. "The first sketches from the Krefeld - based company perfectly captured the spirit and look of a typical caf e racer motorcycle with a dis tinctively individual style," says Neese.

Based on a clearly - defined design concept, LSL Motorradtechnik used custom components to build the VR6 Caf e Racer 33 ltd. within just a few weeks. This new Horex bike was unveiled at the show in Dortmund. "Close collaboration was the key factor behind the extremely short engineering cycle for the Caf e Racer," Neese adds.

Highlight in Dortmund

Horex presented the first production version of the VR6 Roadster at the Dortmund motorcycle show in 2012. The Augsburg - based manufacturer's third model was recently unveiled at the 2014 event.

The VR6 Caf e Racer 33 ltd. was the main attraction at the Horex display (Stand 356, Hall 3) from March 6 - 9.

"Horex fans were treated to a close - up look at a very unique bike," says Neese. The uniqueness factor is made obvious by the extremely limited production run for the Cafe Racer. "We will be building only 33 units and selling them for €33,333 each. This gives six - cylinder bike enthusiasts a truly exclusive Horex that blends sporty dynamics and top - quality components with a dynamic look."

Dynamic design at its best

Using the frame and engine from the Horex VR6 Classic as a basis, LSL Motorradtechnik custom designed many of the visual and technical details of the new Horex VR6 Caf e Racer 33 ltd. This starts with the much leaner and deeper cut of the seat that integrates the rider into the motorcycle and makes it easier to shift weight on a winding road.

Matching the new seat layout, the Cafe Racer features an elegant tailpiece cover over the passenger seat to effectively accentuate the bike's dynamic appearance.

The chassis modifications are enhanced by a new, short - cut front mudguard. Highlighting the sporty look is the round headlight and machined bracket mounted close to the fork, aluminum radiator cover, newly designed rear mudguard and higher license plate frame. The Horex VR6 Caf e Racer 33 ltd. is painted in a brownish silver color.

Refined ergonomics

The narrow seat design significantly increases physical contact with the bike. Addit ional LSL Motorradtechnik components highlight the slightly forward - leaning Cafe Racer seat position. Front end features include a CNC - machined triple clamp and clip - ons. The CNC - machined footrests are offset 10 millimeters to the rear.

Outstanding suspension and braking performance

Öhlins suspension components enhance the high - performance DNA of the Horex VR6 Cafe Racer 33 ltd. on the road. The FGRT fork with 43 - millimeter tube diameter increases front wheel steering precision with perfect feedback and re sponse. An Öhlins TTX 36 monoshock provides rear - wheel damping. Both elements are fully adjustable for rebound, compression and preload to suit individual riding styles and meet the demands of everything from a short trip to an extended ride with a passenger.

The Horex VR6 Caf e Racer 33 ltd. chassis update is complemented by an Öhlins 16 - way adjustable steering damper, Brembo Radial master cylinder and Brembo monobloc calipers on the front wheel. In combination with the obligatory Bosch ABS, these components ensure safe and stable deceleration with precise dosing. Innovative Kineo spoke wheels in a black anodized finish create a colorful accent and highlight the unique character of the Horex VR6 Cafe Racer 33 ltd.

Exclusive limited edition According to Fritz Rombach, VP Sales & Services at Horex, "We wanted to make a dream come true with the Horex VR6 Cafe Racer 33 ltd. It was clear from the very beginning that the new model would be manufactured in an exclusive limited series."

The assembly specialists at the Horex manufactory in Augsburg will be building only 33 VR6 Cafe Racer 33 ltd. models. The new bike is priced at €33,333 and can be ordered from authorized Horex dealers.
