Kamik, a division of Genfoot Inc., has joined the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA). As a member of the EOCA, Kamik will
support the conservation of wild areas and ecosystems around the world.
One
hundred percent of Kamik’s EOCA membership fees will go directly to
select conservation projects including environmental clean-up
operations, trail establishments and replanting initiatives. Kamik will
align with the EOCA’s mission to support valuable conservation work by
raising funds from within the European outdoor sector and promoting care
and respect for wild regions.
“For over two decades we have been
exercising sustainable practices and working to put processes in place
that move us forward as a company, while leaving a smaller footprint
behind,” said Richard Cook, CEO, Kamik. “We believe our green
initiatives are, and will continue to be, integral to our success. We
are committed to manufacturing footwear that families trust to protect
against outdoor elements while striving to give back to the outdoor
world that we all value so much.”
“We are absolutely delighted to
welcome Kamik into membership of EOCA,” said Catherine Savidge, joint
general manager, EOCA. “Through its membership, Kamik will be able to
work with other forward-thinking companies in the European outdoor
industry to protect threatened species and habitats around the world.”
Kamik’s
current commitment to sustainable manufacturing includes operating
three North American factories that use hydro-generated power instead of
fossil fuels, high-quality low-energy lights, and recycled rainwater to
cool machines. Kamik also offers a customer recycling program, reusing
100% of boot scraps in the production of new footwear. To further the
company’s commitment to domestic product development, Kamik recently
purchased new machines to manufacture the upcoming Elements collection -
the first and only line of three-season neoprene boots for men and kids
that are made in the USA.
