Torqeedo expands management team

The leading manufacturer of electric boat motors continues to be set for growth – both in terms of business and personnel. Christian Pho Duc takes on the management of the sales department at Torqeedo GmbH while Stefan J. Hubert is appointed head of marketing of the Torqeedo Group worldwide. Both executives will be based out of Torqeedo’s headquarters in Gilching, Germany.

Christian Pho Duc took over as senior vice president of the sales management of Torqeedo GmbH on July 1, 2014. For the past five years Pho Duc worked in the renewable energy sector as managing director of Smartenergy Renewables Deutschland GmbH and COO of Smartenergy Renewables AG.

While previously acting as the company’s vice president, Pho Duc was responsible for sales of Nanosolar in Europe, MENA and India and European sales of Solyndra. Prior to entering the solar industry, Pho Duc worked as a manager in the semiconductor industry for more than 15 years: internationally and in management functions for Qimonda, Infineon Technologies, Giesecke & Devrient and Siemens. The 47-year-old has a degree in physics from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and a master’s degree in semiconductor physics and microelectronics from Cambridge University in England.

Also on July 1, 2014, Stefan J. Hubert took on the marketing management role at Torqeedo. Hubert comes from Procter & Gamble, one of the largest companies in the consumer goods industry and one of the most renowned marketing companies in the world. During his five years with Procter & Gamble, Hubert helped lead international brands such as Oral-B and blend-a-med to increase sales in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Now, the 30-year-old is looking forward to promoting clean electric mobility on the water. The business administration graduate studied technology and management-oriented business studies at the Technical University of Munich, with a minor in mechanical engineering.
