The Nike Tight of the Moment uses Nike Pro tights as a canvas to
elevate dynamic artwork from both internal and external creative
partners.
In 1991, Michael Jordan used the Air Jordan VI to elevate himself over one of basketball’s greatest centers en route to the first of his six titles.
Now, more than 23 years later, Nike and the Jordan Brand will take flight together to release the Nike Tight of the Moment x Jordan Sneaker Tight, a limited edition tight directly inspired by the Air Jordan VI.
The Nike Women’s design team worked closely with the Jordan team to bring the tight to life, repurposing Air Jordan VI sketches in an artful way. Each graphic on the tight is born from a piece of the shoe and every element of the Air Jordan VI is accounted for, including the neoprene sleeve, rear pull-tab, rubber tongue and visible Nike Air bags.
Nike designers were extremely deliberate in where they placed the graphics on the tights. Their goal was for the print to flow with the female body in motion. To ensure this, designers tailored the graphics to a body map provided by the Nike Explore Team Sport Research Lab.
A body map uses athlete-informed data to show where an individual’s muscles and heating and cooling zones are located, as well as where the body hinges and bends. With this knowledge, designers strategically placed the graphics on the tights to highlight these areas of the legs in a flattering fashion.
Much like the original Air Jordan VI was designed to perform at the highest level, so too is the Nike Tight of the Moment. As a Nike Pro tight, it features soft Dri-FIT fabric that works to pull sweat away from the skin, helping keep the female athlete dry and comfortable as she trains.
This tight was crafted to pair not only with training footwear, but also with the shoe that inspired it. Nike designers thoughtfully positioned the graphics down the leg in a way that would merge seamlessly with the Air Jordan VI on foot.
The NTM x Jordan Sneaker Tight will be available in select retailers and on nike.com beginning Nov. 28.
