The trade show, which ran Jan. 26-29, also reported a strong increase in visitors from other nations, such as the United States and Russia.
“All relevant statistics are extremely positive, and once again
confirm our role as the international leading platform for the entire
sports business,” said Klaus Dittrich, chairman of the management of
Messe München, which produces the show.
The show drew a record 2,565 exhibitors from 51 countries, compared
to 2,481 from 52 countries in 2013. Net exhibition space increased
1,500 square meters to 104,720 square meters.
“The focus on the outdoor segment is increasing,” said Rolf Schmid,
CEO, Mammut and President of the European Outdoor Group, which
represents Europe’s outdoor industry. “We are returning home with a very
good feeling.”
The show "went more than well" for Patagonia, according to its managing director for Europe, Stefan Wahlén.
“What we noticed is that ISPO MUNICH is increasingly turning into a
multi-segment exhibition," said Wahlén. "Every brand is there,
resembling a multi-brand store.”
Dittrich said a new Health & Fitness Hall was particularly well received.
“The desire for fitness, balance, vitality and youth offers new
revenue potential for the sports retail business,” Dittrich said. “It
was an important step to present the Health & Fitness trend in a
designated exhibit hall at ISPO MUNICH, and thus create a new target
group. We opened the doors for a new health movement.”
In 2015, the show will open its doors on Thursday, unlike a usual Sunday opening , and will be held from 5 to 8 February.
