Retail stores news :Hervis moves into the German market

Hervis Sports, the big Austrian sporting-goods retailer, opened on 4 December, its first store in Germany.

It is located in the alpine town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and has a selling surface of 600 square meters.

The company sees a similarity between Garmisch and many Austrian ski resorts, where customers expect a huge offer of strong brands at the lowest possible prices.

In fact, Hervis guarantees the lowest price in the state of Bavaria for all the products offered in its first German store.

Hervis currently operates 80 doors in Austria and 96 more in Slovenia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Croatia and Romania. The chain employs a total of about 2,800 people. It had a turnover of €447 million in 2011, and it recently struck a cooperation on the purchasing side with two other international sports retailers, Go Sport and Twinner.
