NEW BALANCE INTRODUCES THREE NEW MADE IN USA COLLECTIONS
FOR Q 3 ‘14

BOSTON, June 2014 – For Fall 2014 Boston-based New Balance will debut three distinct, tailored collections for the Made in USA styles that offer premium materials, style-forward design and high-quality craftsmanship for the sneaker enthusiast. Inspired by great American novels, the New Balance Made in USA Bespoke, Distinct and Connoisseur Authors Collections will be available beginning July 1 with a suggested retail price of $149.95 – 399.00.

Inspired by great American novels, the latest New Balance Made in USA collections capture the essence of westward expansion -- New York City, the sea and the battlefield. These three themes were muses for many iconic American authors and key touches of each inspiration are showcased through unique materials, colors and details.

New Balance Made in USA Bespoke Authors Collection

The new Bespoke collection will include the most premium New Balance Made in USA material execution and details. The inaugural Bespoke collection will include two 998 colorways done in full Horween leather. The full leather uppers showcase the natural beauty of the material, which is highlighted with bright pops on the ‘N’ logo, sock lining and raw edge of the leather. The New Balance Made in USA Bespoke Authors 998 will also include waxed laces and a shoe shammy. A limited quantity of 300 pairs will be available in each colorway at select retailers beginning July 1 for a suggested retail price of $399.00.

New Balance Made in USA Distinct Authors Collection

The new Distinct collection offers refined craftsmanship with elevated material and design treatments. The Distinct Authors collection features three models inspired by distinct characters in classic Wild West novels – the prospector, the outlaw and the conductor. Two of the collection’s models feature the brand’s first treatment of bison leather, a rich, supple material that reflects the high quality and craftsmanship of these shoes as well as the westward expansion time period.

The New Balance 1300 was originally a 1980s New Balance vintage running silhouette. The style, symbolizing a prospector, is brought back in rich nubuck with bison leather and Cone Denim® detailing. The model offers an ENCAP midsole and rubber outsole and is available July 1 for a suggested retail price of $250.00.

The New Balance 997 evokes a Wild West outlaw through its rich premium pig suede upper and heavy duty leather detailing in a dark brown and black colorway. The model features an IMEVA midsole and rubber outsole and is available August 1 for a suggested retail price of $260.00.

The New Balance 996 is another long-standing classic model featuring a premium full pig suede upper with perforation and black bison leather detailing. The style, symbolizing a train conductor, features a sandy dust color inspired by train travel in the west. The New Balance 996 will be available August 1 for a suggested retail price of $240.00.

New Balance Made in USA Connoisseur Authors Collection

The new Connoisseur collection showcases the brand’s original Made in USA treatments and high-level of quality craftsmanship. Models included in the Connoisseur collection are the New Balance 998, 1300, US574, 996, 997, 1400 and 990. Inspired by distinct and pivotal times in American history, each model is done in neutral and earthy colorways symbolic of defining moments in American history with bright pops of color to highlight detailing and graphic insoles linking each model to specific inspiration. The New Balance Made in USA Connoisseur Authors Collection will debut styles from July 1 – September 1 for a suggested retail price of $149.95 – 199.95.

In 2013, 1 out of every 4 pairs of shoes we sold in the USA was made or assembled in American factories, by American workers. We’re proud to be the only major company making athletic footwear in the USA. Where domestic value is at least 70% we label our shoes Made in the USA.
