Hood River, Ore., Jun 27, 2013 -
DAKINE is proud to announce the launch of its summer ’14 collection of seasonal essentials and adventure-inspired accessories for men and women designed with uncompromising quality, performance and function. Highlights include over 18 new bags for women, an expansion of the popular heritage line of packs and bags plus a refined offering of technical apparel and accessories for mountain biking. The summer line features a bevy of proprietary fabrics and prints from the women’s artist series collaboration with Lital Gold to “Higgins,” the Hawaiian-inspired print honoring DAKINE’s 1979 Maui roots and the camp shirt flannel print, “Hampton.”

“The momentum behind DAKINE continues to be exceptional and our summer ’14 collection captures a sprit of function and design that is unmistakably progressive,” said Chico Bukovansky, DAKINE’s National Sales Manager. “Our entire line was developed with an unmatched level of confidence and expertise and we are looking forward to launching it with retailers around the globe.”

The new women’s lifestyle collection of summer ’14 bags welcomes over 18 new styles, the brand’s largest expansion to-date. Women’s specialty bags feature a range of shapes and sizes for life on the go with the perfect blend of functionality, performance and effortless style that is quintessentially DAKINE. Highlights include a mix of fabrics like jute, straw and washed canvas with antique brass and gunmetal hardware, removable braided key rings, sequins, and novelty logos. Collection MSRP range is $10-$80. Summer also brings a new artist series collaboration for women with

Philadelphia-based textile designer and illustrator, Lital Gold. Gold created a custom, handmade print exclusively for Dakine’s summer bags and luggage with an abstract floral design and pops of teal, sherbet and watermelon.

A collection of men’s heritage-inspired packs and bags offers a range of sizes from the new 10L Crescent Hip Pack to the 51L Recon Duffle. Most bags offer special technology carry options for laptops, iPads and phones. All prints in the collection represent an effortless transition from beach to street to mountain. “Terrain” is a tonal camouflage-inspired print that appears to change color depending on lighting conditions. Other key prints for the season are the “Hampton,” a camp shirt plaid flannel and “Wolf,” a sublimated wolf collage with bright pops of mint. The season’s vintage tropical postcard print and retro-inspired color blocking pay homage to Dakine’s Hawaiian roots. MSRP $32-$130.

For well over a decade, DAKINE has designed the best gear and utility bags on the market. The summer season houses a range of sizes and performance levels from versatile surf packs with waterproof welded construction to the new Party Duffle made for a day at the beach with insulated cooler, built-in Koozies, stealth bottle opener and speaker pocket. The Park Duffle features a 52L volume interior and skateboard carry straps. The Trail Photo is a slim profile pack with easy side entry access to camera gear, compression molded back panel and multiple latch points for a tri-pod, helmet or armor.

New for travel is the Departure 55L bag which can be carried as a pack or duffle, offers a padded laptop sleeve, iPad compatible front pocket, split level design for easy access and is the regulation carry on size for most airlines. Rounding out the new gear bag selection is the Utility Duffle designed with a cavernous 90L volume and tarp-lined shoe pocket while the new Bike Bag fits one downhill, trail, 29er or road bike with heavy duty padding and easy rollup option for convenient storage.

The technical mountain bike collection is divided into three fits: freeride (relaxed for full function), downhill (slimmer for speed) and all mountain/trail (tailored for endurance). Product details include performance fabrics such as DriRelease and the proprietary DK Dry for maximum waterproofing and breathability, internal fit adjustments, reinforced stitching in key stress zones, venting panels and low profile storage. Every jersey, jacket, short and glove in the collection is designed with integrated functionality to work effortlessly with DAKINE hydration backpacks and bags including the new Enduro Hip Pack. All bike gloves in the line are now touch screen compatible for optimal technology use on the go. MSRP $22-$180.
