Trade shows : Germany, hanseboot 2013 launches new concept

hanseboot is the big watersports event for professionals, boating enthusiasts and newcomers – it is held at the exhibition site, centrally located in Hamburg, from 26 October to 3 November 2013. hanseboot gives all the latest information on watersports trends and innovations, living up to its slogan “Northern waters, Northern lifestyle” with a focus on the Baltic, Scandinavia and Northern European waters. The exhibition features a wide range of boats and yachts, and a huge range of equipment and accessories, plus thematic highlights such as daysailing, 15hp engines, refit and funsport. Its hall concept has been changed, using all the hall areas on the B site to ensure optimal linking between the various areas of the exhibition, and helping visitors to make optimal use of their time.

“We are working full speed ahead on preparations for this year’s hanseboot,” says Heiko Zimmermann, Project Director hanseboot at Hamburg Messe und Congress (HMC). “We want to develop the show and constantly improve it for our exhibitors and visitors, and we have conducted a whole series of interviews and market surveys to help us do that. The new focal areas and optimised hall allocation concept are designed to meet the wishes we have identified. Hamburg retains its position as the watersports capital. It is the ideal location for hanseboot, with Lake Alster and the River Elbe within the city itself, the Baltic Sea and North Sea in easy reach, and an enormous range of attractive sailing and boating waters in Scandinavia and the Baltic area.”

Optimised hall concept with exciting focal points

Hall B6 is entirely dedicated to sailing boats this year. A special feature is daysailing, with a wide variety of sailing boats and yachts that are specially suitable for improvised evening or weekend cruises. Hall B7 features motor boats of all leading makes. There will also be a wide range of boats with engine outputs of 15hp or less, because this category has been exempt from licence requirements since the beginning of the season.

Watersports equipment and accessories will be on show in three halls this year – that is B3, B4 and B5. And the “hanseboot Refit arena” will be there again, on the ground floor of Hall B4, following its great success last year; it gives boat owners and boat show visitors a chance to make repairs and improvements on the boats directly on site, under expert guidance.

Funsport will have its own hall again – the ground floor of Hall B1 is entirely dedicated to surfing, kiteboarding and other funsports. This hall is also the location of the big water basin, the “hanseboot arena”, with numerous displays and taster sessions, and of the “hanseboot Beach Lounge” for relaxing. Hall B1 gives visitors all the information about yacht chartering, watersports schools and water tourism, and provides an advice centre on the upper floor to help visitors choose their cruising areas. art maritim will be on the gallery of Hall B2, with maritime artists exhibiting their works. The halls of the A-site will not be used at hanseboot.
