ATLANTA, GA (December 16, 2013) Surf Expo, the world’s largest
boardsports and beach lifestyle tradeshow is proud to partner again with
Volcom to bring the “Wild in the Parks” skate series to Surf Expo
January 9-11, 2014 in Orlando Florida.
“The Volcom ‘Wild in the Parks’ series is one of the premier amateur
skateboard series in the world. Coming from a skate background, myself, I
am stoked that Surf Expo is a stop on the tour. Skaters are so
important to the DNA of our business and being able to give the amateurs
the spotlight in front of the industry is a win for all,” said Surf
Expo Show Director Roy Turner.
“We're super excited to bring a Wild In The Parks skate contest to Surf
Expo,” notes Remy Stratton, Volcom’s VP of Skateboarding. “Working with
Tim Payne of Team Pain as the lead builder on the project as well as
having Surf Expo as the host, we felt it was a great opportunity to kick
off the new year. We are excited to see many of the young skaters from
the Southeast come to this event and bring with them some great energy
and battle for top qualification slot in the finals located at Volcom
headquarters later in the year.”
Surf Expo has always been committed to offering a top-of-the-line
experience to its skate-related attendees and exhibitors. The Surf Expo -
Volcom partnership has a long history of producing great skate events,
from the Neanderthal Brawl, to the “Big Gig” Mini Ramp Jam and “Skate
Art” street series, live skating is all part of what makes Surf Expo a
truly unique marketplace and event.
Surf Expo Skate Category Manager Doog Becker added “Volcom’s ‘Wild in
the Parks’ Contest is the perfect event to deliver the vibe and energy
that our buyers and exhibitors expect. We are excited to be a stop on
the circuit as Volcom's Wild in the Parks series travels North America
to look for the best skateboarding talents the continent has to offer.”
The skate park will include quarter pipes and a street course. The
contest will be open to 100 competitors who can compete in one of three
divisions; 14 & under, 15 & over and Open (pro-am). The top 7
skaters from each division go home with loads of prizes and Open
division winners also receive cash prizes. A part of Volcom’s “Let the
Kids Ride Free” (LTKRF) movement, the Wild in the Parks series is about
giving back to skaters. With this in mind, the series is entirely free
for competitors.
