New product : Optic Nerve Unveils State-of-the-Art Goggle Lens Construction Technology

With its new Inversion lens technology for ski goggles, small, independent sports eyewear maker Optic Nerve is setting out to make big noise in the snow sports industry.

Debuting at the upcoming Outdoor and Snow Sports Industry trade shows later this month, the signature feature of the Inversion lens is a proprietary mirror coating sealed inside the double fog-free lens. Company President Bill Cotton is confident Inversion lens technology is unlike anything on the market:  “The optics are crisp, the lens color is deep and iridescent but what really separates it from the pack is
the highly polished and smooth outer spherical lens that is virtually unscratchable.”

To start with, the curvature of the Inversion lens mimics the curvature of the human eye, meaning skiers and snowboarders will have fantastic peripheral vision, precise optical clarity and high impact resistance.
Designed for excellence, lens construction features a new advanced blue light filter for optimal contrast on sunny days so even subtle changes in terrain are more visible.

Unlike other mirrored goggles which have mirror finishes on the outside of the lens, mirror coating of the Inversion is sealed within the lens so the outside lens has a superior hard coat to resist damage for branches while tree skiing and things that rub up against it in the gear bag.

A vacuum hydrophobic coating applied to the external lens surface repels water, oil, dust and smudges, which aids in cleaning and further enhances lens durability.

Nerve Boreas

Inversion lens technology will be available exclusively in Optic Nerve’s top of the line Boreas interchangeable frame in time for the 2013/14 ski season. When conditions go from bluebird to graybird Optic Nerve’s easy lens release system allows for a quick change to the variable light lens that comes standard in the Boreas package. Anti-fog coating, helmet compatibility, contoured face foam for comfort, 100 percent UV protection and adherence to ASTM standards for light transmission and impact resistance comes standard in all Optic Nerve goggle frames.
