Seattle, Wash. (January 23rd, 2014) – K2 Skis’ All-Mountain R&D team in conjunction with the K2 Women’s Alliance has developed two lines of high-performance ski boots.
The women’s Minaret Freeride collection debuts with two models built to
meet the demands of adventurous female skiers and the All-Mountain
SpYre returns with a number of key performance-enhancing features.
Taking into account the unique ergonomics of a woman’s foot the
Minaret and SpYre were built with a 15mm lower cuff and women’s specific
last to ensure maximum comfort and performance for ladies who wish to
explore terrain beyond the gates or rip around the entire mountain all
day.
The new Minaret maximizes uphill capabilities without compromising
downhill performance through the use of K2’s proprietary Synchro
Interlock design. The efficient and user-friendly system, based on the
innovative stability enhancing and rivet-less Energy Interlock, allows
skiers to simultaneously release an inner wedge and interlock at the
rear of the boot to provide greater walk performance for boot packing
uphill or trudging through the parking lot. When it is time to descend, a
simple downward push of the interlock lever locks the system, creating
confidence-inspiring downhill performance.
The eye-catching Minaret 100 and 80 boots are not only easy on the
eyes, but ultra comfortable and warm thanks to INTUITION®’s
thermoformable liners. The LuxFit Tour and CushFit Tour liners feature
strategic Tour Flex Notches that provide optimal fit and range of motion
when in walk mode as well as a sturdy Power Collar that adds solid
lower leg support when skiing.
The Minaret 100, designed for no-nonsense powder missions, also
features Integrated Tech Fittings that accommodate tech binding systems
as well as all modern alpine DIN bindings. What’s unique to this system
is that the tech fittings are fully integrated into the shell, this not
only eliminates the switching of outsoles when using different binding
systems, it guarantees greater torsional stiffness, overall strength and
durability.
The Minaret 80, offered in a comfortable 102mm last, is perfect for
the occasional backcountry skier or those simply looking to take
advantage of the walk mode not offered on comparable boots for walking
around the resort base, waiting in the tram line or standing around
watching friends and family at the racecourse or terrain park.
The All-Mountain SpYre collection was developed from the ground up
specifically for All-Mountain skiers, unlike riveted boots of the past
created from the basics of ski racing technology. Available in 110, 100
and 80 flex indexes; a model exists for skiers of all abilities. For
2014/15, K2 expanded its INTUITION® liners to all models including the
SpYre 80, a model that is also updated with a hard outsole for long term
replaceable performance. The SpYre 110 and 100 also feature new
replaceable rugged outsoles with a dual material that not only extend
the life of the boot but also provide solid grip when navigating
slippery terrain.
The new Minaret and SpYres will debut at SIA in Denver February 2014 and will be available at retail fall 2014.
