“We’ve been redefining the 3D molded composite frame sheet technology for over 15 years and experimenting with different core materials,” notes Granite Gear co-founder, Dan Cruikshank. “We decided to see if a composite similar to a traditional wood core ski would perform. We were amazed that the maple core turned out to be lighter and stiffer, allowing for greater load capacity.”
Expanding on the enhanced comfort and longitudinal rigidity that the new maple-core backbone provides, Granite Gear added a newly designed exoskeleton belt to the Nimbus Trace Access 70. Made of dual density foam with a plastic exoskeleton, the hip belt offers a stiffer belt and increases the load carrying capacity of the pack. In addition, the new pivot point attachment system on both the hip belt and shoulder straps allows them to move with the wearer and not against, offering more support and equally redistributing the pack load along the hips, shoulders and back.
Extra features include a zip open access
panel and internal compression straps, which allow the wearer to get to
the gear at the bottom of the pack without disturbing the gear above.
The Nimbus Trace Access 70 weighs 4lbs, 3 oz, has a capacity of 70 L and
a load rating of 60lbs. MSRP: $349.95.
The Nimbus Trace Access 70 will be shown in new colors Fern/Boreal at Winter Outdoor Retailer, Granite Gear booth, # 34182.
