Protect Our Winters to host Rolling Stone editor at 2014 SIA Snow Show

WASHINGTON (Jan. 20, 2014) - On the morning of Friday, January 31, before Day Two of the 2014 SIA Snow Show (Jan. 30-Feb. 2), Protect Our Winters (POW) in partnership with SnowSports Industries America (SIA) and Aspen Skiing Company’s Environment Foundation will host a breakfast reception featuring Rolling Stone contributing editor, Jeff Goodell, as keynote speaker. The free breakfast presentation beginning at 8:15AM in the Colorado Convention Center’s Four Seasons Ballroom is open to all Snow Show attendees.

“Jeff’s presentation is guaranteed to be insightful, fresh and incredibly inspiring to all of us in winter sports,” commented Chris Steinkamp, Executive Director for POW.

One of the leading environmental writers of our time, Jeff Goodell received the 2011 Grantham Prize Award of Special Merit, one of the highest awards in environmental journalism. Jeff also received the Sierra Club’s David R. Brower award for excellence in 2012 for environmental journalism for his book entitled Big Coal: The Dirty Secret Behind America's Energy Future.

Jeremy Jones, pro snowboarder and Founder of Protect Our Winters will introduce Jeff Goodell, whose presentation, Field Notes from the Climate Wars, will provide an anecdotal look at the past 15 years of Jeff’s career covering energy and climate, how things have changed and where the industry and the movement is headed.
