ORANGE, CA – March 18, 2014 – Responding to the results of the 2014 post-event attendee survey, triathlon industry organization Triathlon Business International (TBI) announced that it finalized details for the location of its 5th annual industry conference. The 2015 conference will return to Marina del Rey, CA, again at the Marina del Rey Marriott, Sunday through Tuesday, January 25-27, 2015. Ninety-three (93) percent of the attendees at this year’s TBI conference rated the Marina del Rey location as Above Average to Excellent.
“The Triathlon Business International Conference is a uniquely valuable event,” said David Embree, founder and CEO of Athletepath and a 2014 conference attendee. “It is undoubtedly the most concentrated group of triathlon industry leaders, spanning event organizations, brands, technologists, and professional athletes. It's also an event that encourages approachability and a welcoming atmosphere for everyone. For my team at Athletepath, our very first presence at TBI was our best ever conference experience.”
Marina del Rey is within 10 minutes from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), has mild winter weather, and is a favorite location of fitness lovers and outdoor enthusiasts with easy access to the ocean, coastal bike trails, running paths, seaside parks and breezy beaches. Again in 2015, and taking advantage of the outdoor opportunities offered by Marina del Rey, TBI will be including morning runs, cycling and workouts in the daily schedule. In partnership with the Marina del Rey Convention & Visitors Bureau, the opening reception of the 2015 conference will be aboard a yacht that will cruise the Marina at dusk.
Early registration offers the best price opportunity and the ACTIVE conference registration site is now open, as is early booking at the Marina del Rey Marriott.
Working in tandem with USA Triathlon (USAT), TBI attendees will also have the opportunity to attend a USAT Race Director Certification Course immediately prior to the TBI conference. The race director certification is a 16-hour education course that will take place on Friday, January 23 and Saturday, January 24. The culmination is the awarding of certificates to race directors who successfully complete the course requirements.
This course will address the latest in race directing methods, insurance/risk management trends, and USAT sanctioning compliance. While the certification course is not mandatory for race directors who sanction their events with USA Triathlon, the program is extremely valuable to both new and seasoned event directors. Registration is now open for the course.
The TBI conference is designed specifically to bring insights into the market forces that shape the sport of triathlon and brings together multisport equipment and apparel manufacturers, multisport retailers, race directors, technology providers, event vendors/suppliers, coaches and athletes.
“The 2014 TBI conference included attendees from all over the industry, and all over the world,” said Kat Donatello, Pumpkinman Triathlon Director, USAT NE, USAT AGC Vice Chairman and first-time TBI conference attendee. “The contacts I made over the course of three days will have long lasting effects, not only on the events I produce, but also on the organizations I represent, and personally will help me grow my business and personal branding.”
As new information about the 2015 conference becomes available it will be posted on TBI’s website and Facebook page.
