US Motorcycle Industry Council Welcomes Erik Pritchard as General Counsel

IRVINE, CA – March 19, 2014 –   The Motorcycle Industry Council extends a warm welcome to incoming MIC General Counsel Erik Pritchard, effective immediately. Pritchard takes over the position recently vacated by former General Counsel Paul Vitrano and will serve in this role for the MIC, the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, the Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association and the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America.

Pritchard has worked with the MIC as outside counsel since his employment with Ross, Dixon and Bell, the law firm founded by longtime MIC Consultant Stu Ross. During his 10 years as an associate and partner in the firm, Pritchard supported the MIC and the other Irvine-based associations in a variety of litigation and non-litigation matters.

In 2010 he left Ross’ firm to found the Pritchard Law Firm in Newport Beach, CA. The relationship between Pritchard and the MIC and related associations grew to include land access and rider training, among other matters.

“After many years of working with the Associations as outside counsel, I’m excited to join full time,” said Pritchard. “I’m grateful to MIC President Tim Buche for this opportunity and his support. I look forward to serving the Associations and their Boards of Directors and Trustees.”

“On behalf of the MIC, the Board and the industry associations, we welcome Erik,” said President Buche. “We have had the pleasure of working with him for many years and now we look forward to furthering our relationship as he joins us on staff. We have all benefitted from Erik’s legal expertise over the years and we believe that his extensive industry experience will help him successfully serve the Association Boards in the future.”

Pritchard received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Riverside, and his law degree from the University of Virginia. He has taught contracts, real property and civil procedure. Pritchard and his wife reside in Orange County, CA.

The Motorcycle Industry Council exists to preserve, protect and promote motorcycling through government relations, communications and media relations, statistics and research, aftermarket programs, development of data communications standards, and activities surrounding technical and regulatory issues.
