Klean Kanteen, a leader in providing sustainable solutions to single-use plastic, has partnered with Seattle’s Fairmont Olympic Hotel to
offer a sustainable alternative to disposable plastic water bottles. By
offering guests and health club-goers the ability to purchase Klean
Kanteen reusable water bottles, the hotel expects the partnership to
prevent more than 31,000 plastic bottles from entering the waste stream
each year.
“The introduction of Klean Kanteen reusable bottles in the hotel
operation is a tangible example of Fairmont’s Sustainability Partnership
Program in action. Since we began to offer Klean Kanteen, it has been
very well received by our guests,” states Joanne Day, head chair of the
Sustainability Committee at The Fairmont Olympic Hotel. “We chose to
work with Klean Kanteen because their products offer a healthy
alternative to disposable plastic water bottles and their business is
driven by an impressive commitment to our environment.”
In alignment with Fairmont’s Sustainability Partnership Program,
the goal of this partnership is to help eliminate the waste created by
the dozens of single-use plastic water bottles previously given out by
the hotel on a daily basis, the majority of which were distributed in
the health club. To promote its commitment to sustainability, Fairmont
Olympic Hotel branded Klean Kanteen’s are now available for purchase in
the hotel’s health club. By purchasing a reusable bottle to use during
their stay and beyond, guests are making a conscious decision to work
towards reducing single-use in their everyday life.
“The Fairmont Olympic Hotel is highly regarded for its commitment to
the environment and we are thrilled to partner with an environmental
steward of this caliber to help model small steps that make lasting
change.” says Erika Bruhn, director of marketing and brand at Klean
Kanteen.
For every water bottle sold through this partnership, The Fairmont
Olympic will donate one dollar to the Puget Soundkeeper Alliance, a
Seattle based non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and
preserving the waters of Puget Sound by monitoring, cleaning and
preventing pollutants from entering its waters.
