The new Vardenchi Type 5 is powered by Moto Morini’s V-twin engine.
Mumbai-based custom bike maker Vardenchi unveiled the T5 at the Auto
Expo 2014. Vardenchi and Italian motorcycle manufacturer Moto Morini had
announced their partnership at the EICMA show in Milan last year.
Jointly developed by the two firms, the bike will use Moto Morini’s
1187cc, V-twin powerplant and will be manufactured at Vardenchi’s
manufacturing facility in Navi Mumbai and sold through exclusive dealers
in India and through Moto Morini’s distribution network in Europe.
The
2014 Auto Expo also served as a launch pad for the Moto Morini brand in
India. Initially, Vardenchi will sell two bikes from Moto Morini’s range
– namely the Scrambler and the Gran Passo.
The former, an all-terrain bike, features Moto Morini’s 1187cc V-twin
engine that puts out 118bhp of power. The Gran Passo is an adventure
bike the size of a BMW R1200GS. It too features Moto Morini’s 118bhp,
1187cc V-twin and comes with top-spec kit such as Marzocchi upside-down
forks, an Ohlin monoshock, a slipper clutch and Brembo disc brakes front
and rear.
The first lot of Moto Morinis land in India in June but Vardenchi has
already announced prices. The T5 will cost Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom,
Delhi), with a range of customisation options while the Scrambler and
Gran Passo will come in for Rs 26 lakh.
