FORT COLLINS, Colo., April 8, 2014-- SmartMove, a Fort Collins, CO
start-up, has developed a new solution that makes it easy to build
healthy, active lifestyle habits. SmartMove provides amazingly accurate
activity tracking and a personalized, real-time coaching app to help
millions of busy people who sit too much due to their job, travel, and
recreational pursuits.
Accuracy You Can Trust, Change Made Easy
Based on $1.3M of Small Business Innovation Research grants funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), SmartMove
has developed a highly accurate physical activity tracker that uniquely
tracks sitting time as well as many other daily living activities,
including: standing, walking, running, and cycling. Sensors embedded in
comfortable insoles that discreetly fit easily into most shoes, track
the users' physical activity and wirelessly send detailed activity and
Calorie burn information to the users' smartphone.
The SmartMove app, available for both iPhone and Android, provides real-time feedback and personalized coaching throughout the day to help users adopt healthy activity habits. According to Harry Baeverstad, CEO of SmartMove, "People are becoming increasingly aware of the health issues related to sitting too much. They know it is important to be more active throughout the day but want tools to help with encouraging a healthier behavior.
Our research and development work funded by the NIH provided the foundation for an innovative and very accurate way of measuring daily activities and providing feedback. This information combined with interactive coaching that is personally tailored for the users' unique activity goals, motivations, and stage of improvement is what they need in order to change their daily activity habits."
SmartMove technology has demonstrated in clinical studies that it keeps track of specific activities and overall Calorie burn better than wrist or torso mounted devices; this can help people live a more active lifestyle resulting in health benefits.
