English audio firm Damson has launched a new and interesting take on headphones on Kickstarter. They’re calling it Headbones.
Headbones features Damson’s take on bone conduction technology and uses the temporal bone as a conductor of sound to the inner ear. You get the benefits of sound quality while still being able to hear everything around you.
Damson’s Headbones are different than other BCT headphones in a couple ways. First, they feature the company’s Incisor diffusion technology in lieu of a standard speaker.
This has nothing to do with your front teeth. They’re little sound radiators that amplify sound on a surface. The second way they are different is optional earbuds.
There are times when you want to hear the outside world and others you’d rather not. Headbones gives you the best of both worlds without having to change headphones.
The earbuds isolate background noise. Headbones features a flexible design and is IPX5 water resistant.
The Headbones cost $88, a full $62 below the $140 retail price. You have two choices: one with the speaker in front of the ear and one where the speaker is behind. You can pledge at the Kickstarter Campaign at this link .
