The new La Sportiva G2 SM mountaineering boot took home the 2015/2016 ISPO Product of the Year Award for the Outdoor category. Every year ISPO honors the most exceptional products of the sports industry with the ISPO AWARD and the G2 SM was presented with top honors at ISPO Munich held February 5-8, 2015 in Munich.

“The G2 SM represents a quantum leap forward for high-altitude mountain boots,” says Jonathan Lantz, president of La Sportiva North America. “Working closely with Simone Moro, we developed a boot that is lighter, warmer and walks better than anything else in its category. We’re delighted that the judges of the ISPO Award recognized the innovation in this boot and awarded it with Product of the Year.”

A double boot with integrated zipper gaiter, dual Boa closure systems on the outer boot for a secure fit, and a three-millimeter Honeycomb Tech insulating carbon midsole, the G2 SM was developed in close collaboration with world renowned alpinist Simone Moro. He climbed to 6,000 meters on Gasherbrum 2 during the first winter ascent while wearing a prototype of this boot.

Exterior Cordura® fabric guarantees abrasion resistance while the gaiter and inner insulation provide maximum water resistance. The G2 SM retails for $790 and is part of a Fall 2015 collection that includes two new mountain boots, new ski mountaineering boots and skis, and a broad collection of apparel.
