Garmont International Appoints New Director of Operations

Volpago del Montello (Treviso, Italy)– GARMONT INTERNATIONAL Srl, premier international producer of performance footwear for mountaineering, hiking and other outdoor pursuits, today announced the appointment of Marco SANCANDI to the newly created position of Director of Operations. In this position, Sancandi will play a significant role in long-term planning and will manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of company systems, process and policies. He will be responsible for initiating and managing plans for new business growth and expansion and will oversee the activities of the Sales, Marketing, R&D and Logistic departments, reporting to the company President, Pierangelo BRESSAN.

Sancandi has a strong history in the outdoor industry having served as General Manager of the Lafuma Group’s Italian subsidiary for the past fifteen years with the recent addition of Spain and Andorra to his areas of responsibility. Prior to this, he held several senior level positions within the Benetton Sport System group where he was accountable for the development of several brands, including Nordica skiboots and apparel, Kastle skis and Asolo footwear across several international markets such as Europe, Korea and the Middle East.

This new appointment comes one year after a fresh start for the Garmont® brand under new ownership led by Pierangelo Bressan. Bressan is a founding member of VeNetwork SpA, a network of nearly 50 entrepreneurs from the Veneto region of Italy whose mission is to preserve and promote regional businesses. He also owns Prisma 2, a company that specializes in the design and development of outdoor apparel.
