The first MC²60 is nearing completion at
McConaghy Boats and will be launched in February in Hong Kong where the
boat will be permanently based. With some fine tuning on the initial
design, the MC²60 now boast larger aft cabins.
From the
drawing board of Bañulsdesign, the MC²60 is a semi custom catamaran
offering the possibility to suit owner’s specific requirements.
While
the MC²60 number one was designed specifically for single handed
sailing, the second boat has a different cockpit layout with the helms
located further forward, closer to the bulkhead with additional winches
to accommodate fast boat handling with a crew of 5-6 rounding marks when
racing. The MC²60 number two will leave the yard in April.
Like
all boats built by McConaghy, weight saving is always critical and the
interior has been manufactured using light weight core panels, similar
to what was made for the custom 140ft (42.5 m) power trimaran Adastra
that McConaghy Boats launched in April 2012.
The high modulus
carbon masts for both MC²60 in production have arrived from Lorima in
France. McConaghy Boats have manufactured the carbon beams, longeron,
martingale, daggerboards and rudders.
