Devised to battle the summer heat with breathable, lightweight,
running-specific designs, this collection combines Jun Takahashi’s
functional avant-garde aesthetic with the latest Nike innovations.
In Rio de Janeiro, where summer temperatures exceed 104 degrees,
Gyakusou runners battle the heat as they fly along the Brazilian city’s
colorful streets, through its verdant tropical parks, and past legendary
landmarks and lagoons. Uniting this transcendent state of concentration
and contemplation with amplifying adrenaline, they achieve a state of
Zen, enabled by their weather-combative equipment.
A signature fusion of function and utility, the Nike x Undercover
Gyakusou S/S 2013 collection infuses Jun Takahashi’s less but better
design philosophy with the latest Nike innovations to present a
technologically advanced line. Designed specifically to address the
cooling requirements of summer runners in Brazil and worldwide, it
employs unlined, breathable, and supremely lightweight materials from
head to toe, providing avid athletes with the ability to pursue their
passion despite sweltering conditions. The collection’s trademark color
palette speaks to Takahashi’s urban-rural accord with subtle city tones
and natural hues, which are popped this season by bright Mesa orange,
lush Victory green, and fuchsia Sangria pink, reflecting the renowned
vibrancy of Rio landscapes.
The Nike X Undercover Gyakusou S/S13 collection will be availble globally starting March 2 at select Nike retailers.
