City Sports plans to open a pair of new retail locations in 2013 to
coincide with the brand's 30th anniversary. The company's Chestnut Hill,
MA store will open at a new site March 16, while the company will opens
its largest store ever in New York's financial district later this
spring.
A fixt
ure in Chestnut Hill since 1996, City Sports looks to freshen the
brand's neighborhood presence at its new location, joining WS
Development's much-anticipated "The Street" shopping complex along Route
9. City Sports is planning a grand opening party for customers next
weekend that will include raffles worth over $500 in City Sports
merchandise as well as an appearance by former Patriot and ESPN analyst
Matt Light.
"We couldn't think of a better way to kick off City
Sports' 30th birthday than with the housewarming of our new home in
Chestnut Hill," said City Sports President and CEO Edward Albertian .
"We have always been embraced by the Chestnut Hill community, and we
look forward to offering our customers an unparalleled shopping
experience in this exciting new City Sports store at The Street."
At
over 9,200 square feet, the new Chestnut Hill space hosts the ultimate
shopping experience for the urban athlete, including new and expanded
departments for women's apparel, footwear, youth and team sports. The
brand's signature women's offering showcases an updated pant wall and
one of the most comprehensive sports bra collections available anywhere
in retail. City Sports' established footwear department also gets an
upgrade with an in-store track and treadmill to test out more than 300
styles. Other highlights include a beefed-up product offering for youth
and team sports, and an expertly staffed racquet sports department with
full-time racquet stringing and demo services.
The City Sports
Chestnut Hill grand opening party will take place on Saturday, March 16
at 10 a.m. The first 100 customers through the door will receive a gift
bag containing a $10 store gift card and giveaways from City Sports and
Nike, with one lucky winner receiving the grand prize: one free pair of
shoes a month for a year. Three-time Super Bowl champ Light will be on
hand to sign autographs for fans from 11 to 12:30 p.m. Additional
festivities include a 5K fun run sponsored by Nike, free raffles, a DJ
and refreshments.
In addition to the Chestnut Hill revamp, City
Sports will open a brand new location at 50 Broadway in New York City,
slated to open at the end of March. At over 10,500 square feet, the
bi-level space will feature an open floor plan and many other details
that nod to the building's origins as a bank. This store will mark City
Sports' third location in NYC.
