Amer Sports participated again in the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) Climate Change submission in 2014. The Amer Sports disclosure score improved to 82 (2013: 71) on a scale from zero to 100, and performance score to C (2013: D) on a scale from E to A.

Amer Sports has undertaken some new actions, which played a role in the Amer Sports’ disclosure score:  for example, a new, more cost efficient and environmentally friendlier heating system was installed at the Winter Sports Equipment manufacturing facility in Bulgaria in the end of 2013. In addition, the company added information on distribution and transportation in its submission.

About CDP

CDP is an international, not-for-profit organization providing a global system for companies and cities to measure, disclose, manage and share environmental information (www.cdp.net). By participating in the CDP companies disclose their carbon emissions based on the carbon footprint calculations. Amer Sports conducts the annual carbon footprint with the Amer Sports sites around the world and the data was gathered from all headquarters (Amer Sports and the brands’), main manufacturing facilities, largest distribution centers and all sales companies.

The carbon footprint assessment can be used as a tool to highlight the company’s environmental impact and improve the understanding of the involved risks and opportunities, their carbon emission sources and estimate how to cut down emissions and improve efficiency, for example on the use of energy, reduction of waste and by rationalizing travel, which all also create cost savings. CDP reporting is also a tool to increase transparency on environmental issues.
