TEN’s Sports & Entertainment Group Acquires “Snowboard on the Block” Event

TEN’s Sports & Entertainment Group acquired the popular “Snowboard on the Block” festival with the event founder Adam Schmidt joining TEN as Director of Event Experience, Sports & Entertainment.
“Snowboard on the Block” is a snowboarding, music, and film festival held annually in downtown Denver that attracted more than 8,000 fans last year. Founded by Schmidt in 2013, the event has featured big musical acts such as The Misfits and Mobb Deep, as well as marketing sponsors such as Sony Action Cam, Ford Motors, and Sailor Jerry.

“The addition of this event adds even more firepower to our snowboard and winter sports assets, which include leading media brands such as TRANSWORLD SNOWBOARDING, SNOWBOARDER, and events including Snowboarder Superpark and the TransWorld Snowboarding Trans Am Series,” said TEN’s Executive Vice President and General Manager of Sports & Entertainment Group Norb Garrett. “We’re also thrilled to add Adam to our team as he’ll bring his entrepreneurial talents to bear on our entire group as we look to add new interactive events to our entire Sports & Entertainment portfolio.”

Schmidt will work directly with Jeff Baker, General Manager of TEN’s snowboard properties, and Scott Desiderio, the group’s Director of Events. “We’re very honored to add the festival to our arsenal,” said Baker. “The live music and world premieres add exciting new elements in a consumer-based atmosphere which is unlike any of our existing events. Adam has done a phenomenal job building the event from the ground up, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to work with Adam and take the event to new heights.”

“This acquisition means a very bright future for the Snowboard on the Block festival,” said Schmidt. “The event has grown so rapidly that the resources and expertise brought on by TEN are completely invaluable to its continued success.  I am beyond humbled to join this team of industry leaders, and be able to work together with them to further the event’s popularity and showcase it to the masses.”
