Sea to Summit wins multiple awards for Spring 2015 products

Boulder, CO; Feb 18 2015
Not one, but two of Sea to Summit’s spring 2015 products took away awards during Winter Outdoor Retailer. The Comfort Plus Sleeping Mats and X-Pots distinguished themselves under extensive and rigorous field-testing winning the prestigious 2015 Editors’ Choice Award from Backpacker Magazine. The X-Pots immensely impressed Gear Institute who awarded the X-Pots the coveted Best New Gear Award.

“The Comfort Plus sleeping mat is a pleasure to sleep on, but we really fell in love with the double chamber aspect of the design. Pads can pop in the backcountry, and when you’re on the move you can’t stop to make a solid, effective fix. The Comfort Plus mat has a built-in backup plan, and even sleeping on a single chamber proved warm and comfortable,” said Kristin Hostetter, Gear Editor of Backpacker Magazine.

It’s another feather in the awards cap for the sleeping mats; Gear Junkie’s Best in Show, Gear Institute’s Best New Gear, National Geographic Adventures’ Gear of the year (2014) and very recently, the ISPO Gold Award 2015 are among other awards received.

Using an exciting and innovative new technology, the sleeping mats comprise a high-frequency dot-weld pattern, creating a matrix of high-surface interconnected chambers called Air Sprung Cells™. The Comfort Plus mats use a dual layer/ dual chamber technology.  The Air Sprung Cells™ individually absorb pressure and conform to the contours and movement of your body without affecting the adjacent cells.

Gear Institute’s Best New Gear Award is designed to honor those products that represent the most authentic innovations in the outdoor market. The X-Pots are not only innovative but also lightweight, very compact and durable.

Kristin Hostetter comments, “Cook pots are the bulkiest items in a backpacker’s kit, so why hasn’t anyone thought of building a collapsible pot before? It’s a genius idea that Sea to Summit has executed well. The X-Pot performed flawlessly for us during several months of hard testing.”
The Sea to Summit X-Pot incorporates a hard anodized aluminum base and food grade, heat resistant silicone in the walls.  A translucent polycarbonate lid has high visibility, a built in strainer and is locked into place with the pot’s side handles when collapsed. The stainless steel ring embedded in the rim ensures the pot’s rigidity, which also assists with its durable nature when packing.

“These awards are an amazing testament to the dedication of the Sea to Summit team. It’s fantastic to see the reception of the mats and X-Pots and we’re extremely proud to see two new ranges come to market with such excitement,” explains Shelley Dunbar, Marketing Director of Sea to Summit.
