Pioneer Enhances Cycle Computer by Adding Automatic Uploads to Strava and TrainingPeaks and Support for Shimano Di2 System

New Cycle Computer Software Updates Offered at No-Charge

LAS VEGAS--INTERBIKE – Booth #14165 – Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.’s Cycle Sports division today announced software enhancements made to its Cycle-Computers adding automatic upload of ride data to Strava® and TrainingPeaks® as well as support for the Shimano® Ultegra Di2 electronic shifting system. All of the software enhancement updates will be offered free of charge to consumers over the next few months.

“Analyzing data gathered during a ride can be used for connecting or competing for social fitness with Strava or for training and improving cycling performance with TrainingPeaks so it’s great that we’re now able to upload every ride session automatically with our system utilizing Cyclo-Sphere. As soon as the SGX-CA500 connects to a home WiFi network or connected to a computer via USB, ride data is automatically uploaded to the user’s preferred after-ride analysis program, whether it is Strava or TrainingPeaks,” said David Bales, manager of new business for Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “The other cool feature we’ve added is support for Shimano’s Di2 system so our computer will be able to provide detailed shifting information during and after the ride.”

Post-Ride Analysis

Pioneer’s free online cloud service Cyclo-Sphere, pushes ride information into both Strava and TrainingPeaks systems. Once a user opens a Cyclo-Sphere account, the ride data collected by the SGX-CA500 and SGX-CA900 is then uploaded to Pioneer’s Cyclo-Sphere service which will then automatically transfer the information to the user’s Strava and TrainingPeaks accounts. Whether it is sharing ride data socially or with a coach or looking at more detailed power metrics within Cyclo-Sphere, the auto-upload feature for the Pioneer Cycle-Computer will make it extremely easy to upload gathered information after each ride.

Shimano Di2 Support

Users of Shimano’s Di2 electronic road bicycle shifting system can now utilize the Pioneer computer to track gearing and system status as they ride. In conjunction with Shimano’s SM-EWW01 accessory (additional purchase required), a Pioneer Cycle-Computer wirelessly receives data transmitted from the Di2 system via a proprietary ANT+ signal and displays system status on its screen. Users will also have the ability to create a custom page on the Pioneer Cycle-Computer to show Di2 vitals including battery status, front and rear gear positions, and gear ratio.

Cyclo-Sphere Online Service

Pioneer’s Cyclo-Sphere service enables riders to transfer and share more than 200 performance metrics collected by the system via a single USB or Wi-Fi connection to a computer. The free online service provides history management and route viewing (by date, map or ride list). With Pioneer’s expertise in global positioning technology, the service enables interactive analysis (eight GPS ride-points connected cross tabs) from a single screen with the ability to log ride sessions and track histories.
