Bergans to Unveil Hybrid Apparel and Updated Favorites at
Outdoor Retailer Winter Market and SIA Snow Show
LONGMONT, Colo. – Jan. 14, 2015 – Known for its mix of expedition quality apparel, technical hardgoods and lifestyle products, Bergans of Norway is unveiling several new alpine, backcountry, mountaineering and casual pieces at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market and the SIA Snow Show this month. Many of the new products use unique mixes of natural and synthetic fabrics and insulations, and there are some updated old favorites as well.
Highlights in the new line that represent Bergans’ innovation, use of new fabrics and combinations, and heritage are the Viul, Myrkdalen and Bladet jackets, and the updated Bodø down coat.
The Viul jacket is a technical “hybrid” jacket designed for ski touring, mountaineering, trail running or high-intensity activity in cool weather. Constructed of soft Pertex® Classic Eco and lined inside with a hanging Merino wool mesh, the Viul is warm during low-intensity and ventilates and wicks moisture during high-intensity workouts. MSRP is $199.00.
It also features laser cut and welded seams, detachable snowskirt, helmet compatible hood, extended back, ski pass pocket and Recco® reflectors. MSRP of $449.00.
A retailer favorite for years, the Bodø down coat has been updated with a slightly textured, wind and water-repellent outer fabric, an overlapping zippered lapel, and internal elastic cuffs with thumb loops.
As a heritage piece, the Bodø has retro patches on the chest and sleeve, and a detachable hood with detachable faux fur trim. Designed as a cozy coat for après ski activities or hanging out on the town, its MSRP is $349.00.
Other items Bergans is debuting for the 2015-16 fall/winter season include a new 2-layer poly wool base layer collection, several poly wool blend mid layers, a Primaloft® Silver waterproof down blend jacket, softshell and hardshell ski pants, 3-in-1 wool lifestyle coats and jackets, and an 18 liter pack with a suspension system designed to keep it quite and stable on your back during high-intensity activities.
Bergans will be exhibiting at Outdoor Retailer in booth #16039, Jan. 21-24 in Salt Lake City, and in booth #721 at the SIA Snow Show in Denver, Jan. 29-Feb. 1.

ABOUT BERGANS OF NORWAY
Bergans was established in 1908, when Ole Ferdinand Bergan invented the first anatomical backpack. Today backpacks, functional outdoor clothing and tents are part of the portfolio of Bergans of Norway, as well as the ALLY brand of packable canoes. Adventurers such as South Pole conqueror Roald Amundsen, Mount Everest pioneer Sir Edmund Hillary, and heroes of our time such as Polar explorers Rune Gjeldnes or Cecilie Skog trust Bergans equipment on their expeditions.
The Scandinavian brand was established in 1908 by Ole F. Bergan after he invented the anatomical frame pack. During a hunting trip, he cut and shaped a juniper branch to match the curve of his back and attached it to his heavy, loose-fitting rucksack, a design now mirrored in every anatomical backpack produced today, including Bergans award winning Glittertind. The company offers a broad range of backpacks, tents, foldable canoes, and technical and fashionably functional outdoor and ski clothing.
The headquarter of Bergans Fritid AS is situated in Hokksund, Norway, 60 km southwest of Oslo, where 90-plus employees work in development, research, design and sales. Bergans is a market leader in Norway and steadily growing in several export markets in Europe and North America ( www.bergans.com).
