Business people : The North Face Names Vernachio as New Global Product VP


SAN LEANDRO, CALIF. - July 2012 - The North Face, the world’s premier supplier of authentic, innovative and technically advanced outdoor apparel, equipment and footwear, announced today the appointment of Joe Vernachio as vice president of global product, overseeing the brand’s apparel and equipment divisions. Reporting to Todd Spaletto Vernachio succeeds Philip Hamilton, who is no longer with the company, effective June 29. Vernachio previously served as vice president of operations at The North Face.
 
“With more than 25 years of experience in the outdoor product market, Joe Vernachio is a natural fit to lead our global product team and build on its proven track record of bringing athlete-tested, expedition proven products to market,” said Todd Spaletto, president of The North Face. “I look forward to seeing our world-class outdoor product lines evolve and diversify under Joe’s leadership.” 

Prior to joining The North Face, Vernachio held roles in both operations and product at Spyder Active Sports, Inc. in Boulder, Colo., serving as chief operating officer and executive vice president of product. Vernachio began his career as a product manager at Patagonia and subsequently served domestic and international product roles with Nike, Calvin Klein and Roots Canada, Ltd.
