Product Award : Bergans’ Glittertind Backpack Wins OutDoor Industry Award

Bergans’ Glittertind Backpack Wins OutDoor Industry Award
Glittertind noted for its innovative SPINE carrying system
LONGMONT, Colo. –  Bergans of Norway’s Glittertind backpack made an impressive debut at the OutDoor show in Friedrichshafen, Germany  Last month (July 2012). The Glittertind won the show’s prestigious OutDoor Industry Award, for its innovative SPINE carrying system, which will hit stores in spring 2013.
The Glittertind is the latest in a long history of innovative backpacks from Bergans of Norway, which started with Ole F. Bergans invention of the external frame pack in 1908.
The patent-pending SPINE carrying system features a double helix-shaped spring steel frame attached to the center of the pack’s back panel allowing the shoulders and hips to move freely while the frame still offers full load support.

The OutDoor Industry Awards are given to the most innovative new products at the trade show, as judged by the German design organization IF, supported by a panel of international outdoor industry experts.
The SPINE carrying system also incorporates more freedom of movement than pivoting hip belts, which are common in the industry. SPINE’s double helix allows the torso and body to bend, stretch and twist freely in an unrestricted manner, while still providing shock absorption and stability.
The Glittertind backpack is available in 2 volumes (55 and 70 liters) and in 3 torso lengths (S, M, L) to fit a wide range of users. It features lightweight, durable materials, as well as many key details including:
  • Top entry with detachable lid, spindrift collar and compression strap
  • Front panel entry and lower entry compartment
  • Open side pocket, front pocket and bottle pocket
  • Compression straps and plenty of attachment points for all your gear
  • Dividable main compartment
  • MSRP: 70 L ($259.00), 55 L ($239.00)
