Business statistics :Powerboat sales hit third month of double-digit growth ( USA)

Late winter sales momentum fed into the summer boating season, boosting powerboat sales growth across the Bellwether states into the double digits from July through September, according to the latest report on new U.S. boat registrations from Info-Link Technologies. A full summary can be viewed here: Info-Link Technologies Bellwether Report.
Sales of 15-foot and great powerboats for all states were up 8.5 percent through June, a two percentage point increase over May and April. The decline bottomed out one year ago for all boating states, and has been steadily increasing year-over-year since then.

Bellwether States

Outboard and Sportfishing boats have been performing well amongst the Bellwether states, climbing by more than 10 percent for 6 straight months. Outboard boat sales have been up a steady 13 percent year-over-year since April amongst the Bellwether states, which are geographically dispersed states representing roughly half of the U.S. population, varying by market segment and time of the year.
Sportfishing boats have experienced more rapid growth, climbing to as high as 19 percent year-over-year growth in August. Since then, sales have not eased and were up just under 19 percent again in September amongst the Bellwether states.
Other boating segments tracked by Info-Link Technologies also fared favorably in September. Sterndrive sales, which had been suffering, seem to have bottomed out, inching up 1 percent year-over-year in September compared to the same period of last year.
Ski boat and PWC sales were both up, with ski boat sales experiencing a third-straight month of growth in September.
PWC sales went into a hard decline year-over-year in the summer months of 2011, but summer had the opposite effect this year and sales have been climbing since May and reached 5.5 percent growth in September. Ski boat sales have hovered just below 5 percent growth year-over-year for the past three months after the sales decline bottomed out in May.

All States

Sales for all states through June show growth in sales for the bigger segments, with the Sterndrive market being the sole segment shrinking year-over-year through June.
Ski boat sales were the only segment to beat the Bellwether average across all states. Sales of ski boats for all states were up 5 percent during the month of June compared to 2011, compared to the flat Bellwether states. Sales for the segment have been growing for three consecutive months.
Outboard sales for all boating states have been following just behind the bellwether states, only down 1 to 2 percent for the segment. Sales were strong in June, however, with the segment reaching 11.5 percent growth year-over-year.
Sportfishing sales rose and fell alongside the Bellwether average, reaching 11 percent growth for the segment during June.
The market for personal watercraft also showed improvement in June for the first month since 2007, growing 2.5 percent year-over-year during the month.
