La Sportiva, maker of the world’s finest mountain products for over 80 years, remains one of the few brands to offer a full range of winter hard and soft goods, delivering head-to-toe skiing and mountaineering systems. For Fall 2015, the brand continues to expand its winter collection, highlighted by the new G2 SM mountaineering boots and the Trango Ice Cube GTX ice climbing boots, as well as the Vapor Svelte skis and the Spitfire 2.0 ski boots.

“With the G2 SM and Trango Ice Cube, we will once again define what performance looks like for high-altitude mountaineering and vertical ice boots,” states Jonathan Lantz, president of La Sportiva North America. “Both of these boots are works of art that will be appreciated for their weight and for their warmth.”

A double boot with integrated zipper gaiter, dual Boa closure systems on the outer boot for a secure fit, and a three-millimeter Honeycomb Tech insulating carbon midsole, the G2 SM was developed in close collaboration with world renowned alpinist Simone Moro. Designed to perform on steep technical and ice routes, the Trango Ice Cube GTX uses La Sportiva’s proprietary QB3 fabric to create a seamless, waterproof upper with an integrated gaiter. The dual composite, completely rigid midsole creates a solid platform for mixed climbing performance. The G2 SM retails for $790 and the Trango Ice Cube GTX for $550.

Building on the overwhelming success of the Vapor Nano, which has the lightest weight-to-surface-area ratio of any ski on the market, La Sportiva introduces the Vapor Svelte, featuring the same cutting edge carbon nanotube construction as the Vapor Nano, but in a narrower profile. Additionally, La Sportiva has completely redesigned its Spitfire, Sideral, and Starlet ski boots to be even better ski mountaineering tools.

“The Vapor Nano proved that you can build a high performance backcountry ski under 1,200 grams,” Lantz continues. “With the Vapor Svelte, we are using the same construction techniques in a ski with a narrower profile, making it even lighter and more versatile.”

The Vapor Svelte weighs just 1,050 grams. The ski is constructed from a pre-impregnted composite resin matrix with carbon nanotubes that are sourced and produced in the USA. The result is an extremely lightweight and stiff material that is molded into a 96-millimeter wide ski that is easy to initiate, does not waiver at speed, and turns effortlessly in soft snow. The Vapor Svelte will be available in limited quantities in March 2014 in 168, 178 and 188-centimeter lengths. It will retail for $1,200.

Building on its success in both the skimo racing and backcountry touring markets, La Sportiva also introduces the Spitfire 2.0, Sideral 2.0, and Starlet 2.0. All three of these boots are compatible with traditional frame touring bindings, tech bindings, and the SkiTrab TR2 bindings that have proprietary fittings. The Spitfire 2.0 is a fast and agile boot for training or recreational skimo racing. It has a carbon reinforced cuff and the SPEEDFire™ closure system in the top buckle for fast transitions.
