Leader in Merino socks and apparel updates, expands apparel line, introduces women’s fit ski socks
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (Jan. 12, 2015) — The active mountain life doesn’t start and stop at the trailhead. Adventurous spirit and aesthetics are everyday pieces of life for lovers of the outdoors. SmartWool, the world’s leading snow, outdoor, and active lifestyle Merino sock and apparel company, will help consumers go far and feel good in 2015 with a reimagined line of performance and casual apparel and socks designed from the inside out for unmatched performance and comfort.
Layers Without Limits: Already a market leader in Merino layering, SmartWool is pushing performance apparel forward in 2015 with a redesign and expansion of its SmartLoft insulation and NTS Mid 250 baselayer lines.
The restyled NTS Mid 250 collection features asymmetrical, color block, houndstooth and jacquard patterns. New styles this season include the Women’s NTS Mid 250 Drape Neck Hoody and Turtleneck, as well as the Boot Top Bottom for men and women.
The new SmartLoft Corbet 120 midlayer collection features 120-gram wool-based insulation with Merino lining for comfort and wind-resistant nylon face material treated with DWR finish to protect from the elements. The Corbet 120 Jacket is an ideal midlayer for cold days, with enough protection to be worn as an outerlayer in warmer temps.
All-Weather Training: Featuring the SmartLoft Propulsion 60 and PhD® Light apparel lines, SmartWool’s new collection of fitness apparel provides the moisture management, thermoregulation and comfort required for high-energy, cold-weather outings.
The men’s and women’s lines include the PhD® Light Long Sleeve, Zip T and Wind Zip T. Each features gender-specific body-mapped ventilation and the Wind Zip T includes a 1CFM-rated windproof front panel.
For colder training days, the Propulsion 60 Jacket, available for both men and women, features gender-specific body-mapped wool-based insulation.
Women’s Fit Hits PhD® Ski Socks: No footwear requires a more precise sock fit than ski boots and SmartWool is offering women tailored fit and ventilation in its new PhD® Ski sock collection. The new women’s PhD® collection utilizes a lower volume silhouette and narrower heel pocket than its men’s counterpart.
For Fall 2015, the Women’s PhD® Ski sock will be available in seven styles, with Ultra Light, Light or Medium cushioning.
Lifestyle Sweaters with Performance Edge: With new styling, construction and materials, SmartWool designers took a completely new approach to the brand’s Lifestyle Sweater collection and new styles like the Women’s Ski Town Sweater, Women’s Odessa Lake Wrap and Women’s Tabaretta Sweater Dress offer the perfect styling for any après wardrobe.
SmartWool will show its full Fall 2015 line at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, January 21-24 in Salt Lake City, and the SIA SnowShow, January 29-February 1 in Denver. Media interested in appointments should contact Brian Holcombe at brian.holcombe@backbonemedia.net.
