Shopatron partnership gives Bergans retailers opportunities to fill orders and increase sales
Longmont, CO (April 29, 2014) -- To expand its
online presence with consumers and to allow specialty retailers to
connect with and directly fulfill consumer orders, Bergans USA today announced it has added Shopatron functionality to its website. The Bergans online store officially launched April 18, 2014.
The Shopatron e-commerce concept is unique in that existing dealers
fulfill orders placed through the Bergans USA Website. This process
helps supports regional retail and provides consumers access to
products not readily available in their area.
“Our primary reason for choosing to partner with Shopatron was to
give our customers greater access to our product catalog and to
continue to grow brand awareness among active outdoor sports
participants,” explains Keith Patterson, Bergans USA's vice-president
of sales and marketing. “Shopatron also allows us to not only support
our retailers by not competing directly with them, but also gives them
an additional tool to sell Bergans products.”
The Scandinavian brand was established in 1908 by Ole F. Bergan
after he invented the anatomical frame pack. During a hunting trip, he
cut and shaped a juniper branch to match the curve of his back and
attached it to his heavy, loose-fitting rucksack, a design now mirrored
in every anatomical backpack produced today, including Bergans award
winning Glittertind.
Bergans and its products have a longstanding reputation with
history-making expeditions. Adventurers include first conqueror of the
South Pole, Roald Amundsen who travelled with Bergans equipment; Mount
Everest pioneer Sir Edmund Hillary who used the Bergans carrying frame
for transporting oxygen bottles; and Cecilie Skog, a Bergans-sponsored
athlete and the only person in the world to both successfully top the
“The Seven Summits”, “The Three Poles”, and to cross Antarctica
unassisted and unsupported, which she completed with explorer Ryan
Waters.
Other modern day Bergans athletes include polar explorer John
Huston, jibber and X Games freeride competitor Anders Backe, and 2013
Freeride World Qualifier Tour winner Lorraine Huber.
The company offers a broad range of backpacks, tents, foldable
canoes, and technical and fashionably functional outdoor and ski
clothing.
