Business people : McDavid Appoints Two New Members to Marketing Team

McDavid Inc. has appointed Richard Avis and Kathryn Millett, experienced product directors, to its marketing team, both reporting to Mary Horwath, vice president global marketing. Avis and Millett are part of a newly expanded marketing and product development organization at McDavid Inc. and will be responsible for driving product development and supervising their respective categories of Sports Medicine and Protective/Performance Apparel.

“We’re very excited to have such qualified and talented individuals join our team,” said Bob McDavid, McDavid Inc. president.  “Both Richard and Kathryn bring years of technical experience to our marketing bench as well as the strategic andvisionary insights needed to lead our products into the future.”

Avis, currently director of global product marketing / Sport Med has more than 20 years of sporting goods product development experience having worked for such venerable brands as Nike and Adidas.  For more than 14 years he was directly responsible for the development and growth of Nike soccer equipment. Avis began his career as an athletic trainer, is a multi-patent holding inventor and is internationally recognized for performance engineering, advanced material applications and process best practices.

“Having a sports medicine background has been invaluable throughout my career, but never more so than it will be at McDavid,” said Avis. “This product sector is 100% performance engineering; no fluff.  The prospects are incredible, and I fully expect the ‘new’ McDavid will be a brand to reckon with.  I could not be more in my element.”

Kathryn Millett, currently director of global product marketing / performance and sports protection brings more than 20 years of technical apparel experience from such athlete-driven brands as Moving Comfort, Nike, Bonfire Snowboarding and Columbia Sportswear. Millett’s expertise includes technical fabrics, global sourcing, testing and inspirational performance design, and ranges from military and special forces to both men’s and women’s performance, snowboarding, tennis, running, skateboarding and basketball, just to name a few.

“My passion is working on highly technical sport products that demand a high level of experience at all levels,” said Millett. “The growth strategy and growing global presence means it’s an exciting time to be a part of the McDavid team.”
