“The purpose of the symposium is to gather the leaders in the longboard industry to discuss collaborative approaches to help grow the participation of our sport which will help maintain the health and growth patterns of sales within our industry segment” said Jonathan "Joner" Strauss, IDSA Founder.
Surf Expo Show Directory Roy Turner added “Surf Expo has and will always be an advocate for boardsports. It’s what our show has been built on. Skateboarding and longboarding are both in our shows and we fully support the efforts of Joner and the IDSA to help better organize and promote both the sport and business of longboarding.”
During the last 3 years, the International Distance Skateboard Association (IDSA) has advocated its way to provide new opportunities to longboarders by producing long distance skateboard races and presenting longboarding as a sure source of alternative transportation. The IDSA is further making an effort to help the Longboard Skateboard Industry grow by advocating collaboration amongst industry manufacturers.
Doog Becker, Skate Category Manager for Surf Expo added, “The IDSA is doing a great service to help promote and organize distance skateboarding, and I believe it has true potential for growth in the industry. It’s refreshing to see communities taking such an interest, even at the collegiate level with college teams competing on local track fields."
The Longboard Symposium will take place on Friday January 10th at 11AM at Surf Expo and is open to all longboard manufacturers.
