Awwards : K2 Snowboarding Takes Home Awards for 2013 Gear

Seattle, Wash., Dec 04, 2012 -
As the winter season starts to swoop in on most of the country, the time is here to take inventory of your snowboard gear and consider some upgrades from K2 Snowboarding. This fall, K2 Snowboarding, a global leader in the snowboard industry, grabbed several awards from Transworld Snowboarding, Snowboarder, and Snowboard magazines for their new and innovative 2013 hardgoods.

“What we’re offering for 2013 is our best collection yet. With new technologies and concepts across all our hardgoods categories, we’ve upped the game a bit and we’re stoked to be recognized for it,” said Hunter Waldron, K2 Snowboarding’s Global Marketing Manager. “We’ve been rooted in the snowboarding industry for 25 years and each year we feel we bring something new to the table that hopefully makes people go ‘Wow.’”

In Transworld Snowboarding’s Buyer’s Guide, the Happy Hour board took home a coveted “Good Wood” award for best men’s park snowboard for over $450. A collab project with the rad dudes at Airblaster, the stylish Happy Hour features a pre-curved carbon Ollie Bar™ between the feet and carbon stringers to add pop and stability. K2’s new proprietary Tweekend™ technology creates longer rockered zones to float, press, and land on. “So fun and fast. From jibbing to hitting big jumps, this board has it all,” said one Transworld tester.

K2 also got the nod for a second “Good Wood” award for their Raygun - winning best men’s all-mountain board under $449. An all-mountain maniac, the Raygun can hack down steeps, through trees, and even rip up the park. This board has a mellow reverse camber - flat underfoot - with a smooth early rise in the tip and a flatter tail. Featuring K2’s All-Terrain Rocker® technology, the Raygun provides a smooth ride for all types of riding. “It was stable through the chop and had good pop without feeling stiff. Easily enters and exits turns,” said Transworld.

On the women’s side, the K2 Eco Lite board won the “Best of Test” award in the Sept. issue of Snowboarder magazine. Featuring Harshmellow® damping, Hybrilight Construction, and All-Terrain Rocker®, this environmentally-friendly shred stick doesn’t disappoint. Perfect for female riders of all skill levels, the Eco Lite was designed by K2 athlete Gretchen Bleiler. “The Eco Lite is brewed to perfection, and because of that, it’s widely considered one of the most intoxicating snowboards on the market,” said Snowboarder.

The men’s Ultra Dream board snatched up a Platinum Pick Award in the Sept. issue of Snowboard magazine due to its array of technologies, such as Bambooyah®, Tweekend™, and BC Shaping. The Ultra Dream’s tip and tail rise with rocker create a smoother, less abrupt profile, while Tweekend™ provides a more rideable surface and added float. Also receiving a Platinum Pick Award were the women’s Contour boot and men’s Company IPO binding. The Contour’s Double-Boa lacing system minimizes heel lift and maximizes ankle support, while the Intuition custom heat moldable liners fit snuggly to keep feet warm.

The Company IPO features Harshmellow® basepads and canted footbeds to create one of the most comfortable bindings for riding on snow.

  1. Congrats for the award! It's really a good brand for ski boards. I don't have one but my nephew has. He's been using it for many years now and it's still in great shape.
