Denver, CO (January 15, 2015) -- Active Interest Media and Never Summer Industries are proud to announce that the sixth annual SIA/SOS Shootout Hockey Game is set to kick off the second night of the SIA Trade Show for another year at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado!

The Shootout is set to go down on Friday, January 30th, immediately following the Avalanche game.  The competitive hockey game benefiting SOS Outreach will feature ski and snowboard industry heads from the US and Canada, and NHL Alumni, making this the coolest fantasy camp anyone ever attended.  And participation in the shootout is open to anyone who can skate hard.

Spectators are encouraged to attend the Avs vs. Predators game and then stay for the shootout.  The best part?  The Avalanche are offering discounted tickets to the game for all SIA/SOS supporters.  $10 from each ticket purchased will go directly to SOS Outreach.  Don’t miss out on the chance to attend this epic face-off in the name of youth development!

SOS has served over 40,000 at-risk youth throughout the past 21 years, introducing participants to snowsports in conjunction with the core values of courage, discipline, integrity, wisdom, compassion and humility.  During this year alone SOS will serve 5,000 youth nationally, with the week leading up to the shoot-out being the busiest of the year: 1,779 youth will participate in SOS programs at 13 different mountains between January 23rd and February 1st.

While the organization is excited to have so many kids on the hill, the real excitement is due to the impacts SOS is having on participants. The SOS program uses long-term mentorship relationships to encourage responsibility, self-confidence, service, and leadership. Denver SOS participant Andrew Montreal writes: “This experience has made me so happy. I’ve been wanting to learn how to snowboard for awhile and I finally got a chance. I can’t begin to tell you how much confidence and happiness I got out of the experience.”

Tickets to the shoot-out are included with a discounted Avs game ticket when purchased online (avstix.com/Shootout2015).  You must purchase a ticket to the Avs game prior to the night of the event to attend the shootout.  Come support the SIA/SOS Charity Shoot-Out and take in an Avs game all at one great price!

There will be a silent auction throughout the event including hockey and snowboard inspired art.  SOS is continuing to secure additional items to be donated from participants, sponsors, and local businesses.

In past years NHL alumni like Scott Parker, Rick Berry, Joe Sakic, and Derek Armstrong have played in the game.  No telling who from the big leagues will show up this year, but don’t miss out on the chance to smash your favorite rep, shop employee or industry vet into the boards, all to benefit a good cause!
