Cycling Sports Group (CSG), a division of Dorel Industries, plans to open a new European Research and Development facility in Freiburg, Germany this summer. The new facility builds on the company’s focus to continue to grow worldwide resources.
“Cycling Sports Group continues to build our research and development team in Bethel, Connecticut, Taichung, Taiwan and now Freiburg, Germany. This global network of developers is positioned to quickly identify and drive future consumer trends,” said Jeff McGuane, president, Cycling Sports Group. “With our newest facility in Freiburg, the research and development team will benefit from a diverse location close to the pulse of the European cycling market while still operating as one global unit.”
Investment in Employees and Facilities
The Cycling Sports Group research and development team will benefit from ideal surroundings within the new 600-square-meter (6,500 s.f.) facility. Cycling Sports Group has created an inspiring environment for creativity and innovation with state-of-the-art software and hardware. The test lab is only steps away from the famous Black Forest, with endless mountain trails and roads for product testing.
“In the last three years, the Cycling Sports Group research and development team has brought to market three of the industry’s top rated bicycles. The Cannondale Flash, the Cannondale Scalpel 29er and the Cannondale SuperSix EVO which recently was named Best Road Bike In the World by the German Tour Magazine,” said Chris Peck, Vice President, Research and Development, Cycling Sports Group. “By investing in this new facility we are building upon this past success and creating the best possible environment for future innovation. We want to attract talented individuals and continue to build up the strongest research and development team in the industry.”
Peter Denk, who has successfully collaborated with Cycling Sports Group over the past four years to drive innovation, will continue to do so with this new office. His ability to understand future trends in cycling and design products that exceed consumer expectations has made him a critical resource for the development team.
“Expanding the research and development team in Freiburg provides added horsepower that will help service Cycling Sports Group’s ever growing pipeline of revolutionary products. This enables CSG to drive innovation to the next level,” said Peter Denk. “CSG will be looking for innovative and inspired people to join the team to add to its recent successes.”
With its beautiful mountain valley roads, endless single track trails and a lively urban cycling culture Freiburg is developing the reputation of being the “world capital of cycling.” The Cycling Sports Group Research and Development Facility is a part of the The Ganter Brewery campus in Freiburg. Ganter Brewery is a family owned operation since 1865 and a mainstay of the Freiburg region, culture and community. Ganter is continuing to invest in the community with the development of a new campus on their brewery grounds, comprised of educational facilities and unique business operations that promote active and environmentally sustainable lifestyles.
“Cycling Sports Group joining us on the Ganter Brewery Campus fits perfectly into our strategy to work closely with the university, start-ups and big companies with the goal of creating a sustainable experience,” said Hartmut W. Martin, CEO, Ganter Group.
