Another figure that emerged from Nike’s results, published just after
Italy defeated Germany in the second semi-final of the European
championships, is a record turnover for Nike-branded football products
in the fiscal year until the end of May. It reached just over $2
billion, which was an increase of 14 percent in reported terms and 12
percent in constant currencies. Nike’s figure compares with the record
sales of more than €1.6 billion predicted by Adidas for its football
category this year.
