Snugpak, the leading British sleeping
bag manufacturer, has scooped the top prize in the Sleeping Bag
category at the 2011 Novel Awards for its revolutionised Chrysalis collection.
Officially
launched at the Outdoor Trade Show, the new range features a reading
light in the top of the hood for extra convenience. A first for the
industry, this new development sees Snugpak live up to its reputation
for innovation and quality design.
The new functionality of the sleeping bags clearly impressed the expert judging panel for the Novel Awards, which comprised retailers, journalists and special guest, mountaineer Bonita Norris.
With the new light, users will now not need to leave
the warmth and security of their bag or search their tents for a light
source. Stowed in a small pouch, the light has two functions – a
flashing SOS mode or a steady light source, ideal for a variety of uses.
The light can either be used in-situ or removed for occasions such as
reading or to be a dependable light source during the night.
In addition to the light, the Chrysalis
range can expand to provide up to 20cm extra chest space which not only
provides more room, but helps to adjust the temperature by altering the
air circulation within the bag. The bags retain the tried and tested
Softie® Original insulation – a synthetic filling which mimics the
propertiesof down – but this will now be encased in a technical outer fabric, Paratex Micro. Tough, lightweight, highly windproof and water-repellent, it is exceptionally hard wearing and heavy duty, yet remains soft to the touch which makes it ideal for creating a comfortable and durable sleeping bag.
Bags in the Chrysalis collection will
provide protection for a variety of needs from Comfort rating 7° to
Extreme -20° and they will be available in a range of eye-catching
colours.
The range is currently available for trade orders and will be available for consumers in spring 2012.
