Intersport PSC Holding AG announced August 16, 2012 its intention to abandon the operational activity of Budget Sport Suisse SA and particularly close four sites.
During the consultation period, which ran from August 16 to 28, 2012, employees of Budget Sport Suisse SA had the opportunity to propose alternative solutions then analyzed for their feasibility and profitability. The difficult market conditions and continuing losses were nevertheless forced Budget Sport Suisse SA to opt for the definitive cessation of its activity, resulting in the dismissal of 20 employees on site Ostermundigen Biel and Winterthur Emmenbrücke. The Board of Directors Budget Sport Suisse has decided to set up a social plan for employees affected by the layoffs.
Dealer and shareholder INTERSPORT International INTERSPORT PSC Holding AG is present in the Swiss market with 246 franchisees and partners purchase in 370 outlets. The specialist sports shops affiliated with INTERSPORT achieve a turnover in the retail of approximately CHF 540 million and thus hold a market share of 26%.
