Product news: new "ambiotex" shirt measures vital parameters using integrated sensors
Gartner ITXpo Symposium

BARCELONA, Spain & MAINZ, Germany & JENA, Germany--match2blue GmbH (www.match2blue.com) is to present its new ambiotex shirt (www.ambiotex.com) at this year's Gartner IT Symposium (9 - 13th November in Barcelona). ambiotex is a product which finally makes it possible to analyze and monitor various vital parameters including individual stress in real time. This data can be used to optimize workout effectiveness leading to a higher level of exercise and training. A range of functions including the measurement of pulse rate, respiratory rate, stress level, number of steps taken and calorie consumption are combined in one shirt, whose integrated sensors remove the need to wear additional monitoring devices such as belts or watches. Users receive valuable information about themselves and can keep a better eye on personal goals such as performance improvement as well as balance at work. The results of active behavioural changes can then be shared directly via the accompanying app. The shirt, which was developed in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits, will be available approximately at the end of 2014.

ambiotex is a new shirt developed specially for the fitness, lifestyle and health sectors. It measures parameters including heart rate variability and respiratory rhythm which are key in improving the results of athletic training. The shirt is suitable for both professional and recreational sport, and for people who often find themselves in stressful situations, e.g. at work.

ambiotex is also available as a white label product to be licensed and individually configured. This means that companies can sell the shirt and app set under their own brand name, yet still benefit from the existing ecosystem of interfaces and SDKs. For the market launch, ambiotex is looking for wholesale and retail distribution partners in the textiles, sport and health sectors as well as licensing partners from the textile sector. The user group envisaged for the product includes professional athletes, ambitious amateur sportspeople, clubs, organisations and institutions specialising in sports medicine.

USPs and comfort

The shirt is attractive yet functional in design, and extremely comfortable. It can be worn not just at the gym or on the track, but for work and leisure too, enabling data pertaining to personal vital parameters to be recorded more or less seamlessly by the removable "TechUnit" magnetically fixed in the chest area.

An innovative piece of software developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits analyses the data collected and conveys the analysis to a special app, where it can be viewed by the user. GPS tracking also makes it possible to monitor factors such as calorie consumption, distance covered and number of steps taken. Another USP of the new shirt is its ability to determine the individual anaerobic threshold, saving professional athletes a trip to the doctors for the traditional lactate test.

Gartner ITXpo Symposium

The Gartner ITXpo Symposium is the largest meeting of CIOs and senior IT executives anywhere in the world. The theme of this year's symposium is "Driving Digital Business" and around 7,000 visitors are expected. The ambiotex team was delighted to learn that leading analysts had requested a personal demonstration of the product in the run up to the event. Wearables are currently riding the "peak of inflated expectations" in the Gartner hype cycle, thus attracting high levels of interest. The ambiotex shirt has already come to the attention of other Gartner analysts, who referred to it in their keynote address at Munich's BI Summit from 21 - 22nd October.

Scientific insights for better performance

ambiotex will be launched onto the "wearables" market, which according to IMS Research is to see a rapid growth in turnover to become worth at least 6 billion US dollars by 2016. match2blue's development partner is the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits, which guarantees the scientific accuracy of all our data analysis. The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits is an application-orientated research institute for microelectronic and information technology system solutions and services, and a world leader in its field. The clarity of the data obtained via ambiotex is set to permit the introduction of the shirt as a personal medical device.
