Retail news : Hobie Surf Shop opens its first women's surf boutique in San Clemente

Since 1954 when Hobie Alter opened the very first surf shop in California, our stores have stood for quality and innovation.

The customer experience is our priority and at the heart of our business plan. In keeping with this tradition, we are proud to announce the opening of our first women's only 'Surf Boutique' in San Clemente.

We have been asked along the way, 'Why? Why now? Why only for girls?' our answer is simple. It is a direct response to what our loyal cliental has been asking for, and more importantly, we grew tired of seeing the female surfer solely portrayed as a 20 something girl in a thong going backside.

She is only one small part of the surfing landscape. Our goal with this shop is to shine light on every type of water girl. Shortboarder, Longboarder, Outrigger/Prone Paddler, Boogieboarder, Angler, Sailor, Swimmer, Wader, Bronzer... Friends, Daughters, Mothers, Cousins, Grandmas, and Babies, we want to be here for our girl from her first Hobie tee shirt to her very last ride well into her 90's. From her first bar of wax, her outfit for her first date, her gifts for her friends, and, of course, her favorite bikini - we want to be the only place she goes to for all of her beach lifestyle needs.

Featuring the latest and most forward designed women's wetsuits, and female specific handshaped boards, from Gary Larson and Josh Martin of Hobie Surfboards, we are committed to being a progressive, fully stocked, surf shop. We will, of course, continue to share not only our rich surf history through this shop, but we will work with The Surfing Heritage Museum to bring in installation pieces from their collection to highlight water-women from the past and present.

The Hobie Surf Boutique is located at 151 Avenida Del Mar San Clemente, CA. Our Boutique hours are Monday thru Sunday 10am-6pm and we can be reached at 949-542-3400. Stop in and see us soon, we love seeing you!
