Business and product news : G3’s SheGraphiks Design Contest Winners Chosen

G3, Backcountry Babes wrap-up inaugural SheGraphiks contest with three winning selections.

Oct. 15, 2013 - VANCOUVER, Canada -- Vancouver, B.C.  (Oct. 15. 2013) – This season, some of G3’s most popular women’s specific skis will get graphics tailored to match. This past week, G3, along with Backcountry Babes and fans, chose the best entries via its inaugural SheGrapiks (http://www.genuineguidegear.com/life/blog/g3/shegraphiks-...) contest to grace a special edition of G3’s new Empress skis.

This year’s grand prize for best design goes to Alex Rosset for his all-encompassing 'From Earth to Sky' design. Selected by G3 fans, the People’s Choice Award goes to Gabriela Schaer’s colorful 'Holi Powder' creation.  New this year, the Surprise Twist award goes to ‘Happy Soul’ by Petra Hurschler.

“G3 has long been an advocate of women’s specific designs for women’s specific skis, and we felt like a great way to illustrate that this year was via this contest with our longtime G3 affiliate, Backcountry Babes,” said Gord Bailey, VP of Sales and Marketing at G3. “The overwhelming number of entries, and the quality of those entries, shows that’s something that resonated with G3’s fan base.”

Run in collaboration with Backcountry Babes, SheGrapiks was a twist on the annual G3 SkiGrapiks contest, which G3 has run in past years. The contest featured the women’s specific Empress 115 (http://www.genuineguidegear.com/gear/skis/empress-115) as the design canvas and a judge panel made up of female backcountry skiers from Backcountry Babes, an organization that provides opportunities for women to improve their backcountry skills and feel empowered through outdoor recreation.

Of his design, Rosset said he sees skiing as a way to connect with the elements, so he tried to bring the elements into his design: “Forest, wood, the sky, stars, fractals, the entire graphic world I used for these skis expresses the concept of skiing.”

Rosset will receive a pair of Empress 115 skis with the custom design on it, G3 Alpinist elle Climbing Skins, a G3 SpadeTECH elle Shovel, a G3 SpeedTECH elle Probe, and $250 towards a Backcountry Babes Clinic. People's Choice winner Gabriela wins a set of G3 Alpinist elle Climbing Skins and an assortment of G3 swag.

The team at Backcountry Babes was so impressed by the designs in the contest that they decided to add the Surprise Twist winner.  They will produce Petra Hurschler’s Happy Soul Design on a limited-edition Cake 100 ski, and Petra scores a pair to enjoy this winter.

Both Rosset’s winning 'From Earth to Sky' Empress 115 ski and Petra's 'Happy Soul' Cake 100 will be available in limited quantities through the Backcountry Babes store (http://www.backcountrybabes.net/Merchandise-G3Skis.html).
