New product : Burton & Blank You Very Much Collection Ready For 2014 Winter Season

Los Angeles (October 3, 2013) Burton Snowboards and crowd-sourcing design platform, Blank You Very Much (BYVM), are proud to announce that the first-ever, limited-edition winter 2014 Burton Backyard Collection is now available at a hand-picked list of snowboard shops worldwide.

The inaugural Backyard offering, which was crowd-source designed through a BYVM contest last winter, features the winning artwork of English designer, Simon Riviere on two completely new snowboard models called the ‘Speakeasy’ and the ‘Moonshine.’ The limited run of boards was handmade this past summer in Burton’s backyard at Craig’s proto facility in Burlington, VT. Check out the full story, videos and a complete list of global shops here.

Thanks to the incredible success of the first project, Burton and BYVM are getting together again for the second annual Backyard Collection Design Contest, which kicks off today. This year’s contest features three new board shapes for winter 2015: the Show Dog, an all-mountain freestyle board that’s being developed by Burton pro rider Jussi Oksanen; the Street Sweeper led by Burton pro rider Jeremy Jones; and the Tattletale, Burton pro rider Kimmy Fasani’s all-new, all-mountain board. After winning designs are selected by Jussi, Jeremy and Kimmy, the 2015 Backyard boards will once again be handcrafted at Craig’s in Vermont.

Here’s what the pro rider judges had to say about what they’re looking for this year’s Backyard contest snowboard models. Jussi Oksanen, judge for the Show Dog said, “I’m liking retro tourism posters, or high-contrast photos, and original patterns with bold logos and lettering.”

Jeremy Jones also has a clear idea of what he wants, “No kids’ drawings, naked chicks, or alcohol bottles. I’m looking for old school oil cans, garage sign art with hand painted lettering…random things that don’t go together,” said Jeremy Jones, judge for the Street Sweeper.

And Burton team rider Kimmy Fasani, judge for the Tattletale said, “I’d like something a little spicy and not girly…a graphic that breaks the mold for what’s normally seen on women’s products.”

To enter and view the official contest rules, visit blankyouverymuch.com and download the official assets from Burton Snowboards along with the creative objective, which will be used to create a unique snowboard design. Entries will be accepted at www.blankyouverymuch.com through October 31st, 2013. Riders are also welcome to register for a BYVM community membership and vote on their favorite designs between November 1st and 15th.
