750 exhibitors, 180,000 square metres of exhi
bition space, 1,000 boats and 100 new products
on display during the five
-
day event, 114,870 visitors, 14 conferences, 26 events open to the
public, 60 Sea Experience Stage workshops, more than 550 meetings reserved for
professionals from 14 countries, and
more than 1,200 sea trials; these figures clearly highlight
the completeness of the new features offered by show
.
And again, 6 visits to the Show by ministers and high authorities, 3 MoUs signed to promote
boating and the environmental protection,10 pres
s conferences in the exhibition area, 20 live
broadcasts, 1,380 accredited journalists from 26 countries.
This is a summary of the data presented today at the end of the show at a press conference
which was attended by the heads of the organising bodies,
Sara Armella and Anton Francesco
Albertoni, Fiera di Genova and Presidents UCINA respectively, Antonio Bruzzone, CEO of Fiera
di Genova, Carla Sibilla, Councillor for Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Genoa and
Paolo Odone, President of the Genoa
Chamber of Commerce.
“We are very satisfied with these results, which give a sense of the effort made in recent months
to propose a different Show, appropriate to the current time of the market and closer to the
needs of exhibitors and visitors,
the orga
nisers Fiera di Genova and Ucina Confindustria
nautica emphasized.
In particular, exhibitors showed some cautious optimism and signs of
interest and vitality in a market that lost 60% of its total turnover in the last five years”.
“In this perspective-
the organisers said-
the attendance and the statements of the Minister of
Transport Maurizio Lupi, the Minister of the Environment Andrea Orlando and Inland Revenue
Director Attilio Befera, on the one hand confirm the importance of the event for the sect
or and
on the other, they give important signals about the institutions and the government’s intention to
provide support and new tools for the recovery of the entire sector."
In addition to many positive remarks from the exhibitors, however, there have al
so been some
comments and requests for future improvement, which the organisers have pledged to take into
account.
As for visitors, the satisfaction that emerged from the first surveys conducted on a
representative sample of visitors as they left the venue, shows that the duration of the event, its
layout, the division into thematic areas and the Red Wall
-
“the real symbol of the event”
-
have
been positively received”.
More specifically, on a representative sample of 750 respondents, 86% found the new f
ormat
elegant; 86% reported better accessibility to the district, 75% greater user
-
friendliness of the
exhibition, and 80% appreciated the greater number of boats displayed in the sea.
However, there is still room for improvement for some services, such a
s catering, as 68% of
respondents said it still needs to be improved.
The media coverage of the event proved important again this year, with a positive impact on the
entire city: 20 live broadcasts, 74 television and radio broadcasts, 1,380 accredited jo
urnalists
from 26 countries.
The Show also saw a tremendous return on social media and its official website page
www.genoaboatshow.com
: approximately 450,000 unique visitors recorded on the official
website with
over 566,000 total visitors.
Its Facebook page gained over 17,000 fans (and 4,500 “talked about this” in the last week,
equal to 25% of total fans), which means that the Show is followed by a very active and
“responsive” community.
Over 5 million total
people viewed its Facebook page in four months, greatly outperforming
other similar International events in the marine industry and moving closer to the data of major
local and national cultural venues (Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, Genoa Aquari
um).
It is also notable that the city made an extraordinary joint effort to accommodate visitors to the
53rd edition of the International Boat Show, improving and providing a greater range of public
and private services, opening cultural venues and promot
ing joint communication campaigns.
AMT, Aster, the Municipal Police and the Municipality of Genoa, in fact, worked closely together
to deliver more effective services and better access to the city during all five days of the event,
receiving a positive fee
dback from the public.
The initiatives promoted by GenovaInBlu also achieved good results; the “side events” of the
international exhibition were attended by large numbers of people, about 10,000 participants at
more than 25 evening events.
Finally, the
International Boat Show has proven once again that it is a great opportunity for
exchange with the city, even more this year thanks to the new entrance ticket (“Enjoy Genoa
Pass”), the benefits of which will be more clearly seen in the coming months, since
the
advantages and discounts offered by the pass can be used throughout the month of October
and even in December.
